A Slave or Free? - The Wrong Connection Can Feel Like A Curse
Some people are in marriages and feel like they are slaves. Others are in friendships and feel like they are suffocating. Many individuals close themselves off to any close contact with other human beings for fear of returning to some kind of emotional and/or physical bondage they were recently freed from. Simply put, the wrong connection with a person, place or thing will feel like a curse and who wants that?
When people claim to be free emotionally, physically and spiritually, are they really? I have come across my share of connections who were like dogs on leashes. Their masters were pulling them along by unseen forces. Controlling relatives, friends, sons, daughters, employers, etc. using all sorts of tactics to keep their feet on their victims' necks. Yet, when I sat down and talked with those in bondage (financially, emotionally, etc.) and tried to show them the light, they didn't want to see the truth. They made excuses for why they were in their messes. They recognized some of the dysfunctional behaviors but refused to do anything about their situations. They listened to wisdom and that's all they did. Meanwhile, manipulators continue to win.
You know when you have made a bad connection with someone when you feel the tension emanating from them. You feel like you are walking on eggshells in his or her presence. No matter what you say or do to help, support, or encourage him or her, he or she creates a fight even when there is none. They often blame you for everything that goes wrong and praises themselves for everything that goes right. They withhold adoration, compliments, and other things they could do to bridge a gap between you and they. Many hurt people hurt others while choosing to hold on to the past like an unenlightened one holds on to a lucky charm. They think that one-day things will get better by doing nothing more than wishing upon a star. They fail to be proactive in making the kind of changes that will propel these emotionally burdened people as well as their families in the future. Wrong connections lead to wrong decisions!
I made my share of wrong connections and have had to pay my dues, so to speak, as a result. I chose to think positively even when the writing on the wall read, "Negativity." Yet, they were "family" and this one "promised" and besides "They aren't so bad." But I had been wrong over and over again. Something was faulty in my connecting with the bad apples. I didn't need intimate connections during vulnerable times in my life, I needed time to myself for reflection, healing, restoration with my Maker, etc. and that time should have never been dictated by others not based on what others' needs and desires for me. Too many people got gold from me and in turn, they gave me junk.
Your connections now and in the future will impact your life! The wrong associations will break you emotionally, physically and spiritually. You will find yourself void of a relationship with your Creator. Your health and wealth will decline. There will be those moments where you wish that person or group out of your life. You will find yourself getting excited about the temporal things that your closest, yet toxic, family and friends give you only to be heartbroken for a long time by the repeated disappointments.
It is rare to find a person who keeps his or her word, is honest, and sincerely cares about you. Many people connect with one another for all the wrong reasons while others connect for all the right reasons. You will need a gift of spiritual discernment from your creator to help you identify who is a friend and who is the foe. Satan is alive among us and he puts those he has in darkness up to killing, stealing, and destroying the lives of so many backsliding, ignorant, and peculiar believers. Choose to be free from binding people and circumstances today!
